Just thought that I would repost this information. Works real well. They
also offer a 4 channel temp sensor that is backlight that you could use to
measure intake temps, IC temps, underhood temps, etc...

As another alternative, a friend has installed one of the Lascar "analog"
LCD meters in his car for AF readings and it works great and it is cheap.
1.71X.84X 7/32 it is very small. 1 volt full scale, 9 segments with 125 mv
res per segment. He mounted his with double back tape on the instrument lens
near the air bag indicator. Cost is $20.00 and can be ordered from
California. You will need to call them and have them remove the mounting
stud on the back if you want to flat mount it. You might also getting some
kind of cheap 12 volt regulator from Rat Shack as max input voltage 5-12 V.
Works very well and with a sample rate of 10 samples a second, seems to be
fast enough and the dithering is not obnoxious. The part number is EMA 1710
