From: Tom Manson Subject: Fram Oil Filter Deal Date: Sun, 3 Mar 1996 15:52:09 -0500
Miateers, Well I finally got around to making my periodic procurement of sale-priced Fram oil filters. This sale had them at $2.27 each! Such a deal. Don't pass this up folks. In this part of the country (for you Miata Mailing List readers) we have these stores called "Ames." I don't know with what chain they are othewise associated, but there is likely some connection of some sort in other parts of the country. Anyway, every so often (every few months or so) Ames has this sale on Fram filters, and I go out and clean their shelves of PH6607s. Typically they are on sale for $2.50 each (advertised as 2 for $5), and they usually have a half dozen on their shelf. So I grab all they have and try not to look like I'm taking advantage of them. I put about 600 miles a week on Mimi, so I end up cahnging my oil about once a month. The half dozen oil filters last me several months therefore and I watch the newspaper ads for the Ames oil filter sale respectively. For a highly rated filter like Fram (perhaps partly my opinion, since I didn't read the CR article and don't have an immeasurable amount of respect for CR anyway), $2.50 is a good price, but to get them this time for $2.27 was really a nice surprise (I think I paid $13.xx with tax for the half dozen I bought yesterday)! But the sale only lasts a week when it's offered so you have to watch closely and get on it when it appears. Now if only I could get oil for a deal like that!
