FWIW, I also have an Explorer with a little hidden door on the roof console
that houses my remote, and that has to pass through/around the steel roof,
and I can hit it several houses away. Being RF vs. IR, line of site is not
important, and mine being a sears cheapo, power of the transmitter can't be
too important either. I wouldn't be too concerned with the placement
physically in the vehicle.

I'd like to do this, but it seems that I have to A) be really close to my
garage door, and B) have the "clicker" above the dashboard...any ideas?
More relevant info: I turn left into my garage. There is no driveway. I
turn across two lanes of traffic. It is best to have the garage door open
before crossing the two lanes...now, any ideas?
Thanks.
