All:
Just a quicky before I head back to my "shop" and hopefully complete
the front end rebuild by today.
Ended up rebushing all of the a-arms as of yesterday. All four arms
are now mounted to the front with stainless steel hardware. I still
heard the usual "stainless is rust resistant but not as tough as grade
8 carbon steel" argument (again) this time from another engineer. But
having gone through this argument before, I simply replied this has
been done on another car by Gary Hall, blah blah blah and that
quickly ended the discussion.
Last night, I took the passenger side spindle assembly completely
apart. I plan on doing the same with the driver's side assembly
today. Both units will be turned by a local brake shop before being
mounted into the car.
As far as the rest of my assembly, I did wash them into the dishwasher
(hey, that's the beauty of being single and owning your own). Besides,
I regularly hand wash my dishes anyway so that didn't matter. Now the
brake shields and spindles are pretty much cleaned off. I plan on
stripping the parts down and coating them with (you guessed it,
POR-15).
In any event, that's it. Hopefully, next week will see #2428 having
sanding operations commence.
To be continued.
