From: ShempsRus <ShempsRus@aol.com> Subject: Mooney's ZF Removal Next Weekend Date: Mon, 2 Mar 1998 01:38:19 +0000
<<<>> Hello fellow gearheads!! It's unfortunate that, for whatever reason, Tilton Throwout Bearings aren't bullet proof. That might be attributed to a mis-adjusted pedal stop, or the disintegration of the O-rings due to metal flake shavings migrating down from the apparently failing CNC Master. No matter the cause. Next weekend I am recruiting Mike Drew, and perhaps several other charitable soles, to help me carefully detatch and lift from my painted engine bay my polished ZF (as seen in POCA's Profiles - cheap shot). Yes, I know that to those, (not all), hardened, high speed, G-Force bloodied nose car guys (MD?) wouldn't concern themselves with the prospect of painting the engine bay, just to thereafter, and enevitably, have to remove the engine or ZF. If to those folks this is already a laughing matter, please, laugh on, enjoy. But if there is any sympathy found amongst you, please consider my pleas. I need additonal advice on steps to SAFELY remove my ZF without removing the engine. I hope to see yall in Vegas, provided I get this thing rolling again, and am not too embarrased by the cosmetic damaged caused by the repair. Steve Mooney
